The Shelter for Women and Children

„This was the first night of rest I’d had in a long time“

Accessing the women's shelter. Who can come?

Our women's refuge offers women and women with children refuge and protection if they are being physically, mentally or economically abused or threatened with abuse. We can provide you with sheltered accommodation and answers on what will happen next. We provide advice and support to women aged 18 and over who are affected by physical and/or emotional violence in their relationship or family, women with and without children (boys up to 14 years), women regardless of their nationality, income or religion. You can stay in the refuge as long as the threat persists and until you have worked out what to do after your stay here.

An important prerequisite for acceptance is that women are able to live independently, meaning that they are able to care for themselves and their children. Unfortunately, this usually excludes women with acute psychiatric illnesses and addiction problems, especially if there is a risk that they could endanger themselves or others. We are also unable to accept homeless women who are not suffering abuse. Pets are not allowed.

How to get to us?

For safety reasons, the addresses of women's shelters must remain secret.

If you want to come to us, then give us a call on +49 (0) 711 9977 461.

Rental costs have to be paid for the stay. If you do not have your own income, the rent can be paid by the job centre.

Help at the women's refuge

The advice provided by our team of three female social workers is intended to help and support. Every woman has her own personal contact person and advisor.

She helps, supports and accompanies you:

  • during crises and stabilisation.
  • during clarification of your financial and legal situation.
  • in contact with authorities, offices, legal advisers and doctors.
  • in arranging language courses, further education, applications and job hunting.
  • when moving.
  • following your stay in the women's refuge, if this is what you want.

Children in the women's shelter

Our women's shelter also offers protection and refuge for girls and boys who come to the women's shelter with their mothers.

A playroom and a small garden are available for the children.

We help with:

  • individual and group sessions to get used to the new environment.
  • educational assistance and help with parenting.
